West Australian Society Of Magicians
West Australian Society Of Magicians
16 August, 2007 Meeting
August is a double header month with an open meeting this month where, as always, we should invite our guests by asking family and friends to the meeting. Don't forget to invite those youngsters you know who are keen to learn magic as some of us do tutor the eager. They can often hook up with an experienced magician and learn a lot. Look at all the good that Alan Smith does with just a few minutes a month visiting Princess Margaret Hospital. Terry Vo came by last meeting to give support to the club. He's eager to join when he reaches the age of 16. Thanks, Alan, for all you do.
Tuesday, 22 August, 2007 is the Magician Of The Year competition at the Odin Tavern. Dinner starts at 6:00pm and ends at 7:30. Our competition begins at 8:00pm.
Competition rules are the same as last year. Each contestant has 7 minutes to perform. That is a maximum, not a minimum. Practicing will allow you to stay within that time. Don't look to the timekeeper to give you any more than a one minute warning until the end of the performance time. Exceeding the maximum time will disqualify an entrant.
Voting this year will be simply a one person choice for each category two categories. Magician Of The Year and the People's Choice Award. Everyone will vote on the People's Choice Award but only members will vote on the Magician Of The Year.
Go to http://www.perthmagic.com and download the PDF file of the event flyer. Make sure to send it to all of your friends. Anyone who needs a hard copy can get one from me at the meeting.
Good luck to all contestants.
